Astraea Bridal is Changing the Bridal Industry
The MVDA is thrilled to welcome Astraea Bridal to downtown Mount Vernon! Leslee Hughes and Laura Williams, both veteran Bridal Stylists with over 15 years collective experience in corporate bridal, are changing up the bridal industry.
The ladies of Astraea Bridal share a keen passion for helping their clients have that transformational experience when clients find “the ONE”: the dress that makes them stand a little taller, smile a little bigger, and shine a little brighter. It’s what connected Laura and Leslee to the bridal business, and it’s what they share with their clients every day.
The Astraea team is committed to sustainable practices at each level of their business, from the dress hangers and mannequins, to their spectacular selection of consignment wedding, bridesmaid, and special event dresses. They also offer consigned bridal accessories, shoes, jewelry, veils, etc. for that extra touch of glamour. Laura and Leslee partner with a local tailor to make each dress fit just right, and have long-term plans to design custom dresses using repurposed materials from gowns that have seen wedding days and are ready for a new twist in their twirl around the dance floor.
For locals, Astraea Bridal is located in the former Wedding Belles location on the northeast corner of South First and Montgomery. Leslee and Laura have big plans to restore the iconic vintage sign that graces the building to its former luminary glory. Downtown’s historic buildings, walkability, and neighborhood feel are what attracted Laura and Leslee to open their business on First Street. They are community builders, connecting with local photographers, make-up artists, and florists to work together to support brides and their families on that special day of love and celebration.
