Middle WAy Acupuncture

Middle Way Acupuncture Institute has been educating students in the practice of acupuncture and East Asian medicine since 2006. Since moving to their current location above the Skagit Valley Food Co-op in 2008, Middle Way’s program is nationally accredited and currently enrolls an average of 12 students each year, with new capacity to allow up to 20 students per year.

Students come from all over the United States, from Arkansas to Hawaii, thanks to MWAI’s unique program designed for working adults pursuing a career in acupuncture while maintaining current employment or personal commitments during study.  

Founded on the tradition of nature-based acupuncture training, initial classes are aimed toward the study of the natural world and changing seasons, supporting balance and harmony. The Skagit Valley plays a harmonious partner to this pedagogy, surrounding it with world-renowned natural beauty, dynamic seasons, and an engaged community. Beginning in 2020, Middle Way will offer a Chinese Herbal Study Certification as an optional fourth year of study. Completion of this certificate qualifies students to sit for NCCAOM Chinese Herbology Examination and further enhance the healing modalities at their disposal.  

Middle Way’s location downtown Mount Vernon, WA also offers affordable, quality services to our community, provided by interns in the final year of their studies. Supervised by MWAI’s expert staff, interns provide services ranging from their weekly community clinic on Tuesday mornings, to full treatment modalities available throughout the week. Costs range from free to $30 per visit. Recently renovated, Middle Way’s large classroom, library, and four treatment rooms provide students and clients space to learn, explore, restore, and heal. Additional offerings include Tui Na massage, a form of bodywork that includes acupressure, dynamic massage, stretching, and joint mobilizations. More than a “relaxing” massage, Tui Na is designed to free blockages and restore energy flow throughout the body.
