2021 Holiday Parade Grand Marshall and judges announced
Grand Marshall Rebecca Skrinde. Holiday Parade Judges Tammy Oommen, Janine Cook, and Genaro Gomez.
Please join us in honoring and celebrating our Annual Holiday Parade Grand Marshall for 2021, Rebecca Skrinde of Helping Hands Food Bank
A native of Sedro Woolley, Rebecca left the area after high school when she served in the US Air Force. Her travels during her military career gave her an appreciation for the beauty and natural resources of the Skagit Valley, and cemented her commitment to serving her community.
A graduate of Leadership Skagit (LS '14 - BEST CLASS EVER!), Rebecca has been leading Helping Hands since 2015. During her leadership, the food bank has continually scaled up its operations, including building a facility, adding a Skills Training program, and more. During the early days of pandemic, Helping Hands responded to the sudden extreme increase in food insufficiency with agility, creativity and determination to meet the needs.
Helping Hands scrambled to both gather resources and distribute them under very challenging and restrictive conditions. In a matter of weeks, operations at Helping Hands nearly tripled, and Rebecca's leadership of the stellar team at the Food Bank, with dedicated and committed Board and community volunteers, as well as a deployment of National Guardsmen, kept food and other essential life supplies moving throughout the Valley to the people and places in need.
Most recently, Helping Hands again responded with skilled expedience to the communities impacted by our recent flood events. We thank Rebecca for guiding this critical resource in our community, and wish the very best holiday season for her, her family, and her team of heroes at Helping Hands Food Bank.
