MOUNT VERNON — Kathleen Bisagna laid 11 cards on her desk, each featuring original downtown-inspired artwork and short messages.
The newest card features a red skull surrounded by a ribbon reading “Feliz año nuevo,” a nod to Hispanics living in the area.
The “Happy New Year” card kicks off the culture phase of a 30-week campaign to promote shopping downtown.
“That one started up conversations,” said Bisagna, a Mount Vernon Downtown Association committee member. “Some people didn’t really know about the diversity here.”
