Restaurant set to reopen one year after fire

Puja Sharma sat at a picnic table Tuesday at Skagit Riverwalk Park, recalling the day her restaurant, Taste of India, burned to the ground.

“We put our heart and soul there,” Sharma said.

“A lot of work went down with the fire.”

Sharma and husband Kumar Sharma are set to reopen Taste of India in a new downtown Mount Vernon location a year after the May 21 fire on the corner of Second and Myrtle streets that also destroyed Super Pho and Teriyaki and All City Bail Bonds.
